Shipboard Air Conditioning Expert

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center in Norfolk, VA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing full-time onsite support and surge support for various code 252 cognizant equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Main Equipment Support: Perform or support tasks for Centrifugal Air Conditioning Plants, Reciprocating Air Conditioning Plants, Ships Service Refrigeration System, Chilled Water Pumps, High Pressure Air Compressors (HPACs), Low Pressure Air Compressors (LPACs), Medium Pressure Air Compressors (MPACs), Weapon Systems Air Compressors (WSHPACs), Emergency Breathing Air Compressors (EBACs), SCBA Compressors, Deballast air Compressors, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Air Compressors (SCBA's) and LP/HP Dehydrators.
- Fleet Technical Assistance: Conduct on-site or via distance support technical evaluations, functional checks, troubleshooting, testing, analysis, and equipment repairs as tasked.
- Evaluation and Assessment: Determine equipment condition and out-of-specification settings, observe operation of equipment by ship's force, utilize measuring equipment to obtain data, evaluate findings, and make adjustments and repairs as possible.
- Training and Support: Provide onboard maintenance training to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment.
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
Location: Primarily onsite at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.
Security Clearance: Active SECRET security clearance required and must be maintained throughout employment.
Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of recent, relevant hands-on mechanical experience within the last seven years in the operation, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing of US Navy Auxiliary equipment.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification to handle refrigerant.
- Proficient using general and special purpose electronic test equipment for organizational level maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and plans, as well as troubleshoot, analyze, and provide distance support for listed equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
