Job Summary

">

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Systems Specialist to perform electrical repair and maintenance tasks on ships, barges, equipment, and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Perform electrical repair and maintenance tasks, including assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures.">
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, systems, and equipment.">
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components using test equipment and hand tools.">
  • Advise supervision and/or Safety Department on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.">
  • Determine the appropriate method and required equipment for proper electrical repair.">
  • May be required to install conduits, run wire, and terminating.">
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.">
  • May train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures when appropriate.">
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.">
  • Able to operate shipboard switchgear.">
  • May assist during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles.">

Requirements

  • Minimum of High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred.">
  • Experience/knowledge of electrical circuitry.">
  • Industrial and/or marine Electrical experience preferred.">
  • Maintain current electrician's license to meet governmental regulations (if applicable).">

Working Conditions

">
  • ">
  • Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.">
  • Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.">
  • Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.">
  • Aboard ships, both on and offshore as well as confined spaces.">
  • Must be able to stand and operate equipment up to four continuous hours.">
  • The work requires long periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.">

Salary and Benefits

">

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

National Salary Range: $81,281 - $114,156 annually

Location: Virginia/Norfolk

">

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required.
