As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the initial point of contact for patients, representing Mercy with the utmost professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities:

The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient entry into our facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling appointments and managing patient registrations.
  • Verifying insurance benefits and ensuring pre-certification.
  • Conducting financial clearance processes, including pre-visit collections.

It is essential to gather and maintain accurate patient information within our records, ensuring compliance with various insurance guidelines and regulatory standards.


Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

  • 1-3 years of clerical experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes is advantageous.
  • A high school diploma is required; some college education is beneficial.

Essential Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent telephone etiquette.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • The capability to perform under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in various computer systems and the ability to operate a 10-key calculator and keyboard.
