Billing and Collections Specialist

First Choice Community Health Centers is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to oversee the billing and collections process. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, and self-pay billing processes, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising billing specialists, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks, and consistently meeting productivity and quality standards.
This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment and to provide billing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, and late charges data and trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise billing specialists and ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks;
- Post cash receipts and insurance payments to EHS software;
- Ensure departmental and customer needs are met;
- Track open charges and work with providers to complete order entries;
- Review daily batches and maintain monthly Deposit Journal;
- Assist Finance with reconciling EHS End of Day reports to Deposit Journal;
- Report received payments to Accounting Manager;
- Maintain accurate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes within EHS software;
- Research credit Accounts Receivable balances and perform required follow-up;
- Assist CFO with annual cost reports, financial audit, and UDS report;
- Answer onsite questions for patients and provider customer service;
- Perform regular audits of front desk staff's performance;
- Assist outsourced billing company with credentialing and provider signatures;
- Provide billing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, and late charges data and trends.
Requirements:
- High School diploma required; Associates Degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred;
- Minimum of five years progressive billing experience, including supervisory duties;
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills;
- Familiarity with computerized accounting/billing systems;
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment;
- Good physical and mental health.
Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
