Position: Lead Scientist, Gene Therapy Process Innovation

Location: Seattle, WA

We are at the forefront of cell therapy advancements, committed to unlocking the full potential of these therapies to improve patient care. We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Scientist to join our Gene Therapy Process Innovation team within the Cell Therapy Development division. This role is crucial in developing the processes and technologies that support the production of engineered T cells.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the strategic planning for process development initiatives, including technology transfer and process characterization.
  • Act as a representative for Gene Therapy Process Innovation in CMC and cross-functional team discussions.
  • Facilitate technology transfer and ongoing collaborations with external partners and service providers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including supply chain and quality assurance, to assess manufacturing proposals and processes.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including reports, patents, and regulatory submissions.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Extensive experience in early and late-phase process development within the pharmaceutical sector, particularly in lifecycle management and technology transfer. Experience in cell therapy, gene therapy, or biologics is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing strategic and technical projects, including leading cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of viral vector process development in cell therapy and a strong record of representation in CMC development teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong decision-making abilities, especially in ambiguous situations, with a keen understanding of investment value.
  • Commitment to BMS core values of passion, innovation, urgency, accountability, inclusion, and integrity.
  • Educational background: B.S. with 10+ years, M.S. with 8+ years, or Ph.D. with 4+ years of relevant experience.
