Position Overview

NOVA Engineering and Environmental, LLC is in search of a Building Envelope Consultant Specialist. We are seeking a proactive individual who embodies a positive mindset, thrives in a collaborative environment, and demonstrates a robust work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing comprehensive visual assessments of building envelope systems, moisture evaluations, pre-design assessments, and property condition evaluations.
  • Conducting forensic assessments and investigations on building envelope and roofing elements that exhibit performance deficiencies or are suspected of failure.
  • Executing field tests on roofing, waterproofing, window, and curtain wall systems, as well as other building components in both new and existing structures, adhering to various ASTM, AAMA, TAS, and ANSI standards.
  • Reviewing construction documentation, including architectural plans, shop drawings, and submittals related to the building envelope.
  • Carrying out quality assurance inspections on-site to ensure compliance with construction documents, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Compiling technical reports that document investigative findings, testing outcomes, and observations made during assessments.
  • Occasional travel for overnight assignments, both in-state and out-of-state.
Essential Functions

This role involves providing consulting services, forensic evaluations, quality control field testing, and inspection duties for a variety of structures, including commercial, retail, educational, multi-family, and manufacturing facilities, serving both public and private sectors. Ideal candidates will possess relevant consulting and field experience, along with a solid understanding of diverse construction types, particularly focusing on building envelope components. Familiarity with engineering and consulting principles, as well as general business practices, is essential.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of consulting experience in areas such as Building Enclosure, Structures, or Property Condition Assessments.
  • Technical expertise in building construction.
  • Proficient in interpreting plans and specifications.
  • A degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in remedial design related to Building Enclosure/Roof systems is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with building envelope systems, including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, and waterproofing.
  • Certification in operating boom lifts or a willingness to obtain certification.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Effective report writing skills.
Working Conditions
  • Field assignments constitute approximately 50% of the role.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from mechanical lifts is required.
