Position Summary

Glatfelter Insurance Group is on the lookout for a Vice President, Head of Technical Claims. This pivotal role within our Glatfelter Claims Management (GCM) division will involve active participation in the Leadership Team. The individual will be responsible for managing the company's high-stakes claims, overseeing aggregate tracking, training personnel, and supporting the President of Claims Management with various strategic initiatives.

Key Duties

  • Provide exceptional claims services to establish GCM as the preferred service provider in the industry. Strategically develop, position, and deliver superior claims services that leverage GCM's strengths as a competitive advantage in the marketplace, ensuring a reputation for excellence.
  • Facilitate meaningful reporting on claims intelligence and analytics, sharing relevant insights with the leadership teams of Glatfelter Underwriting Services.
  • Under the guidance of the President of GCM, spearhead ongoing strategic initiatives in Claims through programs that promote a culture of continuous improvement, including the maintenance of an effective litigation strategy.
  • Conduct thorough book reviews as necessary to ensure adequate reserves and that larger claims are managed according to GCM best practices. Provide constructive feedback to adjusters regarding potential strategies for optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with various claims teams to monitor and report on aggregate claim events, such as catastrophes and class actions.
  • Serve as a technical resource across Claims teams for complex claims, participating regularly in roundtables, pre-trial, and pre-mediation meetings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include AIC, CPCU, Claims Law, JD.
  • At least 15 years of claims handling experience across all commercial property and casualty lines.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience managing complex, litigated claims, with preferred expertise in public entity matters and pollution claims.
  • Ability to obtain necessary adjuster licenses promptly and maintain licensure through required continuing education.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with effective time management.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance policy forms, coverage, and procedures.
  • Expertise in managing litigated files.
  • Familiarity with PC operations and the ability to acquire knowledge of relevant departmental systems and software.
