Job Summary:
We are seeking a Tax Manager to oversee the tax department, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all tax filings while managing a portfolio of clients. The Tax Manager will provide strategic tax planning, guidance on complex tax issues, and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and review the preparation of tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, conducting tax research and analysis when necessary.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize client liabilities while identifying potential opportunities for savings.
- Lead and mentor junior tax staff, providing guidance, training, and support on tax compliance and planning matters.
- Collaborate with clients to offer tailored tax advice and strategic planning to meet their business or personal financial objectives.
- Support audit processes by liaising with tax authorities and preparing responses to inquiries.
- Continuously stay updated on changes in tax legislation to offer accurate and timely advice to clients.
- Contribute to the development of internal tax processes, improving efficiency and ensuring accuracy.
- Assist in business development activities by nurturing client relationships and identifying new service opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification required.
- 5-7+ years of experience in tax accounting, with extensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
- Experience managing and mentoring tax staff.
- Proficiency in account reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and financial statement preparation.
- Strong skills in tax research and financial software tools, with advanced Excel proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients and staff.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
