Position Overview:

Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is in search of a seasoned Senior Web Solutions Engineer to assist the Tactical Space Systems Division in the design and implementation of satellite ground software for end users.

The Senior Web Solutions Engineer will be responsible for overseeing web architecture, serving as a liaison to comprehend end-user needs, influencing core technology selections, and guiding development teams. This role offers the chance to support and substantially impact our satellite ground software solutions, which provide command/control, mission planning, space visualization, and more to our clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders to ascertain business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Design and implement high-level architectural frameworks for scalable, secure, and efficient web solutions.
  • Mentor teams in the development of client and server web components to ensure a highly responsive user experience within an existing service-oriented, message-driven architecture.
  • Guide the selection of frameworks, libraries, tools, and design patterns to enhance current and future development initiatives.
  • Oversee code reviews, ensuring compliance with best practices and coding standards.
  • Optimize web application performance and address issues as they arise.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in web technologies.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in deploying and managing web solutions using micro-service oriented and orchestrated architectures, including technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

Basic Qualifications:

Senior Principal Software Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring teams in the design, implementation, and deployment of web-based software products.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing highly responsive web applications that handle significant data streaming use cases.
  • Extensive experience with two or more server-side web technologies and familiarity with frameworks such as Django, Phoenix, JAVA Spring, or Flask.
  • Experience with two or more client-side web technologies and familiarity with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Svelte.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., OpenStack, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cybersecurity considerations and standards for web-based architectures.
  • Experience in software build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification, and deployment.
  • Experience developing satellite ground software for spacecraft missions, particularly in Command and Control, Mission Planning, Visualization, or Astrodynamics.
  • Familiarity with user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
