Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Court Reporter II to join our team at the Colorado Judicial Branch. As a Court Reporter II, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely verbatim reporting and transcription services for court proceedings, hearings, and conferences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record testimony using stenography in various types of courtroom proceedings.
  • Maintain and set up equipment, including Real Time equipment at Bench and attorney tables.
  • Pause court proceedings to clarify language as needed.
  • Read back portions of the record during hearings and trials as requested by parties.
  • Provide real-time transcription to the Judge.
  • Act as custodian of record for admitted exhibits during hearings and jury trials.
  • Edit, proofread, and produce certified written and electronic verbatim transcripts for judges, attorneys, private agencies, and the public.
  • Perform administrative duties, including billing for transcripts, completing record-keeping forms, documenting information contained in reports, and maintaining records according to statutory requirements.
  • Forward completed transcripts to the Court to be stored per Record Retention guidelines.
  • Receive and file exhibits collected during hearings and jury trials.
  • Upload stenographic notes to the server monthly per Record Retention guidelines.
  • Purchase and maintain court reporter equipment and software, including steno machine, real-time software and cables, subscriptions for the ability to provide real-time to the Judge, NCRA membership dues, CCRA membership dues, computers, laptops, USB drives, and transcript covers.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or 2 years of college.
  • RPR certification through the NCRA.
  • Less than 1 year of related experience.
Work Environment

This position is located in an office or similar indoor environment. The work environment is relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
