Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for the preparation, creation, scheduling, and release of hardware production orders. This role involves collaboration with Buyers to monitor part deliveries across the supply chain. The planner will maintain production and planned orders in the SAP system, adapting to changing requirements. The focus will be on ensuring timely delivery by managing and reporting on production order performance, analyzing capacity requirements, and communicating vendor status and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily assessment and release of planned orders in the SAP system, ensuring BOM accuracy and availability prior to release, and addressing capacity constraints while communicating potential bottlenecks.
  • Understanding and monitoring manufacturing value streams for various products.
  • Providing real-time updates to date fields, capacities, and other necessary inputs in SAP to maintain the accuracy of WIP orders through MRP.
  • Creating and maintaining production routing documentation on the manufacturing floor.
  • Promptly approving changes in demand and updating relevant databases and reports.
  • Planning and scheduling outsourced production through BOMs, coordinating with Purchasing to ensure timely PO placements and acceptable due dates, and monitoring part progress at various outsourced suppliers.
  • Understanding cost structures to ensure hardware is allocated to the correct accounts.
  • Verifying accounting accuracy before technically closing production orders.
  • Tracking the status of all applicable BOM parts and issuing pick tickets to logistics and supply chain.
  • Leading or assisting with cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Effectively interfacing with the supply chain organization for weekly supplier meetings and monitoring the status of Purchase Requisition fulfillment and Purchase Order delivery.
  • Collaborating with Quality and Engineering teams to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Engaging with manufacturing floor leadership on a daily basis.
  • Supporting various production and alignment meetings with timely and accurate updates.
  • Ensuring that outgoing customer shipments are managed and executed punctually.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Completion of EHS assigned regulatory training as required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Production Planner role or a similar Supply Chain position.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, self-motivate, and work diligently.
  • Formal training in an ERP system, with SAP being strongly preferred.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on processes.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Awareness of cost management and a focus on operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
