We are seeking a skilled Medical Professional Assistant to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Wilsonville, Oregon. This is a 20-hour per week position that requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

About the Job

This role will assist doctors of optometry in providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an optometric or ophthalmic practice and possess strong technical skills, including proficiency with instruments such as auto-refractors, tonometers, and visual field testing equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately record patient medical and visual history
  • Prepare clinical information for doctors, including PST and Medicare refresh
  • Take and record patient vitals when indicated
  • Perform pre-testing, including assessing gross visual skills and extraocular muscle action
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Assist in therapeutic procedures, such as foreign body removal
  • Manage patient communication and triage
  • Coordinate patient optometric care with optical dispensing, membership services, and other departments
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an optometric or ophthalmic practice
  • Paraoptometric Assistant Certificate within 24 months of hire
  • Demonstrated experience with ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
