About the Role:
Kaiser Permanente is seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist Assistant to join our team in Wilsonville, Oregon.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support our doctors of optometry in providing exceptional patient care. As an Optometrist Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting with patient exams, preparing equipment, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately record patients' medical and visual history, review and prepare other clinical information for doctors.
- Take and record patient vitals when indicated in EMR, perform pre-testing, and maintain accurate records and reports as instructed by the doctor.
- Instill eye-drops when ordered by the doctor, assist in therapeutic procedures, and receive and process phone calls and patient communication.
- Manage all aspects of doctors' schedules, including booking appointments, and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic instruments and equipment to ensure they are clean and accurate.
- Assess condition of instruments and arrange for repair and/or recalibration as necessary, and respond to patient concerns and resolve or forward them to the proper person or area for resolution.
Requirements:
- Minimum one (1) year back office clinical experience directly supporting a medical provider or completion of an accredited clinical assistant program (I.E. MAs, CNAs, LPNs, Dental Assistants, and Patient Care Techs).
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required, and licensure: Paraoptometric Technician Certificate within 24 months of hire from American Optometric Association or Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate within 24 months of hire from The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of previous experience in optometric or other ophthalmic practice, basic knowledge of Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures, and philosophy and culture.
- Familiarity with optometric and optical terminology, familiarity with optometric instruments and equipment, and working knowledge of HealthConnect.
Compensation:
The estimated annual salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 based on location and experience.
