Culinary Specialist

Key Responsibilities –
- Prepares and slices vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, sauces, and desserts by adhering to established recipes and visual presentations of menu offerings.
- Operates various cooking stations including sauté, broiler, fryer, pizza ovens, and pantry.
- Facilitates the kitchen workflow by accurately interpreting and managing orders.
- Monitors portion sizes for meats, salads, entrees, seafood, and appetizers, ensuring daily food preparation meets operational standards.
- Maintains organization of the cooking area, including storage shelves, freezers, and refrigerators.
- Notifies the Executive Chef of any potential food safety issues, spoilage, or preventable waste.
- Ensures food is stored, reheated, and frozen at appropriate temperatures.
- Labels, dates, covers, and rotates all perishable and non-perishable items using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience in a high-volume kitchen environment is essential. Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail are necessary. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Flexibility to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays is required. Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting common documentation is expected. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from team members and management is important. Must be capable of performing basic mathematical calculations relevant to job duties. Skills in problem-solving, data collection, and drawing valid conclusions are essential. Ability to interpret a wide range of instructions and manage multiple variables is required.
Licenses/Certifications: Must be at least 21 years old. A Racing License from the Louisiana Racing Commission is required.
Physical Requirements: Frequent wrist motion, sitting, hearing, and hand-eye coordination; Regularly required to speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend, and stoop; Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull. The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend, and lift at least 25 pounds. The work environment may include exposure to outdoor temperatures, smoke, bright lights, and noise. The surroundings are generally non-demanding with a low noise level.
