Position Overview:

As an Inclusive Education Specialist, you will deliver direct teaching and educational support to students with diverse learning needs. Collaborating closely with general education instructors, you will play a vital role in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), guiding students in decision-making, social skills, and academic achievement by providing tailored strategies, resources, and instruction to help each student thrive in meeting the expectations of College and Career Readiness Standards.

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000, based on experience and certification

Key Responsibilities:

General Education Collaboration
  • Deliver direct instruction and educational support to students with disabilities within inclusive classroom settings alongside general education teachers in a co-teaching framework.
  • Engage in shared responsibilities with general education teachers, implementing evidence-based co-teaching methodologies through coordinated planning, instruction, and assessment.
  • Conduct academic evaluations and prepare reports for initial and triennial assessments, while overseeing the execution of Individualized Education Plans.
  • Communicate student progress to parents regarding IEP goals and objectives as outlined in the IEP.
  • Prepare for IEP meetings for both inclusive and self-contained students in collaboration with fellow special education and general education teachers, while managing casework.
  • Analyze formal and informal assessments to make informed educational decisions for students.
Student Performance and Assessment
  • Gather data on student performance to enhance educational outcomes and tailor instruction.
  • Administer and interpret various assessments as needed.
  • Adapt and modify educational materials to ensure students with disabilities can access the general curriculum, aligning with their current levels and IEP objectives; ensure compliance with IEP timelines.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities aimed at enhancing instructional knowledge in best practices, differentiated instruction, and educational policy updates.
  • Coordinate the schedule of classroom support staff.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
  • Design a curriculum that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Classroom Environment and Management
  • Establish a learning environment that is conducive to student engagement and development.
  • Plan and oversee meaningful assignments for support staff, including para-educators and volunteers.
  • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request from supervisors.
  • Encourage students to uphold standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons and projects, and effectively communicating these to students.
  • Strive to implement the educational philosophy and instructional goals of the district.
Student Progress and Evaluation
  • Regularly assess student accomplishments and provide necessary progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as mandated by law and district policies.
  • Collect data and prepare reports on student activities and progress as required.
  • Assist administration in enforcing policies and rules governing student conduct, developing reasonable classroom behavior expectations, and maintaining order.
  • Guide the learning process to achieve curriculum goals, ensuring clarity in lesson objectives.
Collaboration and Compliance
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, fellow educators, support staff, families, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Create a classroom environment that fosters learning appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of students.
Educational Policy and Compliance
  • Stay informed and compliant with all company policies, training, and certification requirements.
  • Incorporate modifications and accommodations to address diverse learning needs in lesson planning and delivery.
  • Take necessary precautions to safeguard students, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assist in implementing policies governing student life and conduct, developing reasonable classroom behavior expectations.
  • Work to embody the district's educational philosophy and instructional objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for conditional certification in special education.
  • Valid state teaching licensure/certification is required or eligibility for state educator certification in specific content areas for secondary education.
  • Valid driver's license required, meeting state regulatory agency and Nexus Home Office driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree and prior teaching experience preferred.
