Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate physician orders based on a clinical assessment of the patient, including allergies, age, renal function, concomitant drug therapy, lab values, approved dosing guidelines, best practice protocols, diagnosis, and physical clinical status.
  • Assure the safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products and investigational drugs, measured by QA, medication occurrences, competency assessment, and other documentation.
  • Manage drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes, measured by intervention documentation, ADR assessment, chart reviews, target drug reviews, patient education, and the provision of drug information.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge, licensures, and certifications through continuing education.
  • Manage the operations of the pharmacy in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or related field.
  • Current Pharmacy license in the state of practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical essential functions of this job include frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects, occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force, and working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
