Job Summary:

The Pharmacist (PRN) is responsible for overseeing medication storage and preparation in the healthcare system, ensuring compliance with legal, accreditation, and certification requirements. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to provide optimal pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for medication management.
  • Supervise medication storage and preparation areas, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Provide educational programs for healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
  • Ensure maintenance of an adequate medication supply and integrity of the medication supply chain.
  • Monitor and control medication distribution, including controlled substances.
  • Develop and maintain a medical staff-approved formulary.
  • Supervise pharmacy personnel, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop job descriptions and performance standards.
  • Monitor workloads and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Provide educational programs for pharmacy staff.
  • Work with the CFO to develop the pharmacy annual budget.
  • Review and analyze financial statistics and plan expenditures within budget guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with health system policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
  • Three years of experience as a practicing pharmacist, with one year of supervisory experience.
  • Pharmacy residency training is preferred.
  • Clinical experience in communicable disease and prevention, particularly in HIV, is preferred.

  • Communicate effectively with all staff.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements, including state, federal, and NCQA regulations.
  • Ensure patient/client confidentiality at all times.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Wear identification while on duty.
  • Maintain a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all staff.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
