Job Summary

The Proposal and Technical Writer is responsible for developing high-quality content in response to RFPs and supporting new business development. This role involves preparing proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive RFP responses and unsolicited proposals
  • Determine proposal concept by identifying opportunities and needs, studying RFPs, and attending strategy meetings
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities, coordinating requirements with contributors, and contributing proposal status information to review meetings
  • Gather proposal information by identifying sources and coordinating submissions and collections
  • Maintain quality results by following proposal-writing standards, including readability, consistency, and tone
  • Support editing proposals and marketing materials to ensure consistency
  • Conduct periodic review of content by subject matter experts and perform final flip-through of proposals prior to submission
  • Assist in creating and maintaining content in SharePoint and develop professional skills to better serve company goals and objectives
  • Provide editing support to all departments as needed and assist in creation of manuals and training materials
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Combined education and relevant work experience may substitute for post-secondary education
  • 3+ years' experience as a technical writer, copywriter/editor, journalist, and/or research assistant
  • Intermediate level of proficiency or above with Microsoft Word
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Previous experience working with proposals and in marketing, communications, or similar fields
  • Excellent communication and computer skills, ability to work as a team and independently, and ability to write clear, concise, and effective content
