Biology Laboratory Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biology Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily activities of our laboratory, prepare lab experiments, maintain lab equipment and inventory, and ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory, including preparing lab experiments and maintaining lab equipment and inventory.
- Maintain a safe working environment, including ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements.
- Assist professors with setting up and developing new laboratories.
- Monitor the department budget and order necessary supplies.
- Write and maintain contracts with vendors for supplies and lab equipment maintenance.
- Hire and supervise work-study students.
- Associate's or higher degree in biology.
- Considerable working knowledge of basic biology theory and nomenclature.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, procedures, and techniques.
- Strong trouble-shooting abilities as they relate to minor repairs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communication to a variety of audiences.
- Organizational abilities.
- BS in Biology with coursework in chemistry.
- College-level coursework in biology, including introductory and advanced courses.
- Working knowledge of laboratory principles, techniques, and operation of equipment.
- Knowledge of methods of securing and safely transporting and disposing of biohazard agents.
- Computer competence and knowledge of MS Office and other necessary software.
- Ability to assist in the maintenance of software products.
- Experience in molecular biology, including using micropipettes and setting up reactions such as PCR and restriction enzyme digestions, as well as sterile technique and knowledge of preservation and storage of molecular reagents.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Supervisory skills.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce and within an educational environment.
