About the Role

Fairview Health Services is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank. As a key member of our Anatomic Pathology team, you will play a vital role in producing high-quality slides for microscopic evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow standardized procedures to create slides for microscopic evaluation using routine histology and advanced staining techniques.
  • Adhere to system standards to ensure regulatory requirements are met and patient safety is prioritized.
  • Use education and experience to troubleshoot failed stains and instrument issues, escalating appropriately as needed.
  • Participate in process improvement projects, working toward meeting department goals, and ongoing responsibilities related to lab safety, regulatory compliance, lab supplies, or training students as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or 60 semester hours with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include both) from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Qualified to work in a highly complexity laboratory as mandated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA '88).
  • Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory certification such as HT (ASCP). If not certified at time of hire, must acquire certification within 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer one year of experience as a histology technician in a coordinated healthcare environment.
