Research Assistant

Rutgers University is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Assistant to join our team in the Medical Oncology division of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).
Job Summary:The Graduate Assistant will work under the direction of the principal investigator to assist with bioinformatic analysis for a research project related to microbiome. The successful candidate will have experience analyzing high-throughput genomic data and proven skills in programming.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform TCGA data analysis and single-cell RNA sequencing transcriptomic analysis independently.
- Collaborate with scientists and clinicians within and outside of the Rutgers Cancer Institute in the application of bioinformatics and systems biology to basic science and investigative clinical research.
- Analyze sequencing data using established pipelines.
- Contribute to the development of novel algorithms and pipelines for investigative research and clinical applications.
- Presents results in written or oral reports for bioinformatics scientists and internal researchers.
- Collaborate with other staff, faculty and scientists in preparing manuscripts and external presentations.
- Current student pursuing a PhD or MD degree.
- Experience analyzing high-throughput genomic data is required.
- Proven skills in programming are essential.
- Effective oral and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of molecular biology or cancer biology a plus.
The Graduate Assistant will work in an office environment with moderate noise.
