Structural Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking an ambitious and initiative-driven Structural Engineer to strengthen our dynamic team in Tacoma, WA.
This senior role will involve collaborating with teams to devise innovative solutions for diverse waterfront and industrial infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of structural design experience and a strong background in waterfront infrastructure.
Responsibilities will include structural design and development, project leadership, and client engagement and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply engineering expertise to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to devise innovative solutions for waterfront and industrial infrastructure developments.
- Contribute to projects involving waterfront infrastructure and industrial developments, leveraging skills to drive successful outcomes.
- Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies to contribute to project success.
- Ensure regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements.
- Identify and overcome challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches, utilizing both traditional and modern engineering techniques.
- Manage project tasks, ensuring efficient coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development.
- Foster strong client relationships by actively listening to client needs, providing clear communication, and delivering customized solutions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance and proactive support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of structural design experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis).
- MS in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural emphasis).
- SE required.
- Concrete, steel, and timber design experience.
- Pile design and bulkhead wall experience.
- Prestressed concrete and seismic design experience.
- Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS.
- Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA preferred.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and exceeding expectations.
Work Environment:
The position is located in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
Occasional visits to project locations may be required, involving walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
