Key Responsibilities:- Service, maintain, inspect, and repair rail equipment, including mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform repairs, replacements, and tests on machinery, components, and systems related to rail equipment under the direction of engineering or other staff.
- Review and understand project/activity requests, safety instructions, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, and possible solutions.
- Dismantle, assemble, and replace new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as HVAC, brake, pneumatic system, propulsion equipment, truck, and car body equipment and sub-systems for trains.
- Analyze sub-systems to meet design or rated specifications and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications in a timely fashion to meet customer train availability schedules and/or overhaul schedules.
- Record activity performed on appropriate report cards or data sheets, indicating all relevant information pertaining to the activity.
- Perform quality tests and verification to ensure safe performance of sub-assemblies or components, properly reporting to the customer, governing agencies, or for internal auditing purposes.
- Unplug, clean, and repair toilets, as well as perform other duties assigned by the supervisor based on train availability or repair schedules.
- Follow all Bombardier security and safety instructions or procedures to prevent personal injuries and maintain a safe fleet that meets the demands of a reliable commuter service.
- May be required to train and qualify as a Class Four Train Operator to move rail equipment within yard limits or train and qualify for use of a wheel truing machine.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Rail Equipment Systems and Sub-systems.
- Mechanical and Electrical aptitudes.
- Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
- A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be 1 year of experience within rail maintenance of equipment field desired but not required.
- Diesel/Mechanical Vocational Certificate required if no relevant experience.
- Manual and/or Schematic knowledge.
- Electrical schematic.
- Air schematic.
- Maintenance manuals.
- Illustrated parts catalog.
Salary: $27.57/hour
