Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Home Infusion/Specialty

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician - Home Infusion/Specialty assists the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients. This role involves performing sterile and non-sterile compounding, filling, referral coordination, and communication with patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit purchase orders and requisitions for drugs and supplies
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of the annual inventory
  • Assist pharmacist in coordinating/scheduling preparation of sterile admixtures
  • Generate labels and packages in accordance with the dispensing order and under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Monitor for and appropriately return or destroy expired or unusable drugs per policy/procedures
  • Perform miscellaneous billing functions, including patient charging and crediting, nursing unit charges, and controlled substance charging through manual entry into the computer, or with bar code reader
  • Prepare and deliver enteral nutritional supplements to patient care areas
  • Prepares/compounds sterile admixtures using aseptic techniques and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist

Requirements:

  • Pharmacy Technician License Illinois
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) for pharmacy technicians licensed after December 31, 2007
  • Basic computer literacy and math skills

Work Environment:

This role is based in Urbana, IL, and requires working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
