Job Summary

As a Custodian I at Texas Woman's University, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities. This position requires a high level of physical activity and attention to detail, ensuring that all areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain floors, hallways, and stairways, including sweeping, mopping, and stripping and waxing
  • Dust and clean furniture, windows, fixtures, and other features
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed
  • Measure and mix cleaning solutions, operating equipment such as vacuum cleaners and buffers
  • Empty trash containers, clean trash rooms, and deposit trash for pick-up
  • Assist with unloading and distribution of supplies and materials, monitoring and requisitioning as needed
  • Report needed repairs and property damage
Requirements
  • Completion of the tenth grade preferred
  • Some related experience preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow simple instructions, read product instructions, and learn materials, methods, and equipment used in assigned work
  • Ability to operate equipment such as hi-speed buffers, vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, and water vacuums
  • Ability to use a mop, broom, dustpan, mop bucket, and wringer
  • Ability to regularly climb stairs and occasionally climb a six-foot ladder
  • Ability to make simple calculations and measurements when mixing solutions
  • Ability to effectively deal with students, staff, faculty, and visitors while performing duties
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner
Work Environment

As a Custodian I, you will work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and physical demands. You will be required to wear protective equipment and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
