Position Overview:

As a Senior Materials Testing Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within the Materials Science division, spearheading the engineering initiatives for materials testing aimed at advancing technologies for defense applications. This dynamic team is dedicated to the development, integration, and evaluation of innovative solutions that cater to the evolving needs of our defense sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering efforts in materials science testing, focusing on the creation and evaluation of advanced materials tailored for defense and aerospace sectors.
  • Utilize various testing methodologies to assess material performance and enhance production processes.
  • Provide strategic guidance to organizational leadership regarding emerging technologies and potential market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure that solutions for military personnel are seamlessly integrated, enhancing operational capability and value.
  • Oversee the assessment of technical specifications related to design objectives and analyze the environmental impact of materials processing.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in materials science, testing, and evaluation, or systems engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in leading a team of engineers or scientists.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and business professionals.
  • Familiarity with materials development programs within the Department of Defense, including polymers, composites, metals, nanomaterials, or biomaterials.
  • Knowledge of composite corrosion, thermal protection, or protective polymer coatings.
  • Expertise in laboratory testing and evaluation of materials for component durability, as well as optimization and modeling techniques.
  • Possession of a Secret clearance.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with machining operations, including basic 3-axis CNC milling and the establishment of associated laboratories.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with production and material processing teams for product application.
  • Experience in business development within the defense contracting sector.
  • Familiarity with in-product testing processes and methodologies for enhancing overall testing efficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex environments.
  • Top Secret clearance is a plus.
  • A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering is preferred; a Doctorate in the same fields is advantageous.

Clearance Requirements:

Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.
