Position Overview:

The Operational Communications Specialist role is essential in advising and executing policy enhancements for Operational Communications systems. This position is tasked with pinpointing areas for improvement and updating the VICSES operational framework, particularly in dispatch and alerting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and manage communication with personnel and volunteers regarding call-taking and dispatch processes, including the rollout of advanced capabilities.
  • Assist the Manager of Operational Communications in the effective delivery and utilization of Operational Communications and Information Services to bolster Emergency Services for the community.
  • Identify and recommend necessary modifications to policies governing the use of VICSES Operational Communications systems while addressing capability gaps.
  • Engage in operational command and control tasks during specific local, regional, and state-wide operations, fulfilling the State Duty Officer function and/or Incident Management Team (IMT) responsibilities.

Compensation and Work Structure:

  • Salary range: $92,332 to $104,762 + 15% Commuted Allowance + Superannuation.
  • Employment type: Ongoing - Full time.
  • Must be able to travel to the Regional office or regional ICC within 60 minutes when on duty outside of regular hours.

VICSES is a volunteer-driven emergency service dedicated to minimizing the impact of emergencies and enhancing community resilience. Our trained volunteers are equipped to respond to a variety of emergency situations, including road accidents and search and rescue operations, while collaborating with various emergency management agencies.
