Job Overview:
The Registered Dietician plays a vital role in providing nutritional guidance and support to patients, ensuring their dietary needs are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments within 24 hours of patient admission.
- Design personalized meal plans and weight management goals tailored to individual patient requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nutrition Services to safely re-feed patients who are malnourished or medically unstable, working alongside a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions in accordance with company policies.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients, fostering trust and a collaborative approach to treatment goals.
- Create and implement individualized treatment plans that address patients' specific needs and challenges.
- Regularly update treatment plans with measurable objectives and discharge planning, tracking patient progress.
- Continuously reassess nutritional needs and present findings to the treatment team during weekly meetings.
- Engage with referring dietitians to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care.
- Involve parents or guardians in meal planning for adolescent patients, ensuring a smooth transition during discharge.
- Provide education to families about eating disorders and nutritional support strategies.
- Facilitate group therapy and meal therapy sessions, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
- Develop and implement nutrition therapy modules for group sessions.
- Assist patients during meal therapy, helping them set goals and manage behaviors.
- Lead post-meal discussions to help patients process their experiences and identify coping strategies.
- Guide staff in addressing nutritional concerns and communicating meal plans effectively.
Professional Development:
Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and professional growth by participating in training and supervision meetings. Maintain registration requirements through ongoing education as stipulated by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of experience in the field of eating disorders is preferred. A clear driving record is required. Compliance with COVID vaccination protocols is mandatory.
