Position Overview

As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the stability and performance of our systems. Your responsibilities will encompass the installation, configuration, and maintenance of both Linux and Windows-based systems. You will be tasked with enhancing the security posture of our infrastructure while actively monitoring system health and addressing any issues that arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for Linux and Windows operating systems and applications.
  • Manage both virtual and physical server infrastructures running CentOS across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain cloud environments utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Ensure system integrity and security through continuous monitoring of security feeds and dashboards.
  • Create and uphold standards and procedures for applications within a complex computing environment.
  • Document processes comprehensively and maintain detailed records.
  • Monitor performance of applications and operating systems, analyzing and resolving incidents as necessary.
  • Design and implement testing strategies, documenting outcomes effectively.
  • Utilize scripting and automation tools to enhance system operations.
  • Stay updated on relevant technologies and industry trends.
  • Research and recommend hardware and software solutions, coordinating installations and backup recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with users and evaluate vendor products to ensure optimal solutions.
  • Review incidents to identify root causes and implement appropriate fixes.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure seamless integration of applications.
  • Participate in maintenance and patching activities, including data transfers and security reporting.
  • Coordinate necessary waivers and approvals as required.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred, along with relevant certifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with Red Hat and/or CentOS.
  • Proven expertise in VMware ESXi infrastructure and host clustering.
  • Experience in server builds using automated processes.
  • Familiarity with Ansible and/or Puppet for configuration management.
  • Experience in managing applications and services within AWS.
  • Proficient in version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of managing Elasticsearch on CentOS.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills

  • Certification as a Linux System Administrator.
  • Understanding of network engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and syslog applications.
  • Experience with cloud services and IT security certifications is a plus.
