Job Summary:
The Motor Vehicle Operator position is located at the Brockton, MA campus and is responsible for operating vehicles to transport clean and soiled linens to and from various VA facilities in the New England region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate vehicles with four or more forward speeds to transport clean and soiled linens
- Deliver clean linen to VA facilities and pick up soiled textiles
- Safely operate a Box truck weighing 26,000 lbs. with proper loading and unloading techniques
- Keep trip tickets, gas receipts, and mileage reports
- Perform pre-trip inspections and use load strapping and dock plates as needed
Requirements:
- Valid CDL (Class D) license
- Safe driving record
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver dock plates and carts
Working Conditions:
The work involves recurring box truck operation, including loading, unloading, driving in highway traffic, load strapping, dock plate using, packing in and delivering linen and picking up soiled linen from approximately 10 delivery points.
