Job Title: Carpenter Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Assistant to join our team at Community Action Partnership of Dickinson. As a Carpenter Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Weatherization Program by assisting with the completion of Weatherization projects and ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with meeting the objectives of the Weatherization Program.
  • Support the completion of Weatherization projects as required in the Standard Work Specifications (SWS).
  • Provide general Weatherization and carpentry work to eligible clients.
  • Load and unload Weatherization materials as required.
  • Clean warehouse and vehicles as instructed by supervisor.
  • Service equipment as instructed by supervisor.
  • Responsible for tools assigned to them by the agency.
  • Operate Blower Door and perform all diagnostic tests required by the Program.
  • Install Windows and doors without supervision.
  • Read, understand, and practice Standard Work Specifications (SWS) policy.
  • Follow all safety standards and procedures as required by the agency.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in the areas of building construction, electricity, carpentry, heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning.
  • Experience working with people from various socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish a positive rapport with staff, clients, other agencies, businesses, and the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both in written and oral forms.
  • Basic understanding of computers and some software.
  • Demonstrated ability working on scaffolding, roofs, extension ladders, and in tight crawl spaces.
  • General mechanical skills.
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR within one year of hire.
  • Obtain Lead certification within one year of hire.
Work Environment:

Frequently works on scaffolding and extension ladders, works in confined spaces, noisy environment, in high stress situations, outdoors, dust, powders, sprays, mists, vapors, fumes, uses gloves or protective equipment, unsanitary conditions, house pets or animals, conditions where life-threatening microbes are present (hantavirus, hepatitis), electrical hazards, works indoor/outdoor in controlled and uncontrolled environments as well as outside in weather extremes.
