Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Assistant to join our Weatherization Program team at Community Action Partnership of Dickinson. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the weatherization of homes, including carpentry, insulation, and diagnostic testing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the completion of weatherization projects as per the Standard Work Specifications (SWS).
  2. Support the mission, goals, and values of the Community Action Partnership Weatherization Program.
  3. Identify and address professional and organizational issues and trends, facilitating change and participating in program restructuring.
  4. Maintain confidentiality and serve as a liaison between departments and agencies.
  5. Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as approved by the Program Director.
  6. Participate in program-related committees and contribute to the growth and development of the Weatherization Program.
  7. Travel to meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.
  8. Assist in educating weatherization clients and monitoring their needs based on Weatherization Best Practices.
  9. Conduct general weatherization and carpentry work for eligible clients.
  10. Load and unload weatherization materials as needed.
  11. Clean and maintain warehouse and vehicles as instructed by the supervisor.
  12. Service equipment as directed by the supervisor.
  13. Responsible for tools assigned to them by the agency.
  14. Operate Blower Door and perform diagnostic tests as required.
  15. Install windows and doors without supervision.
  16. Follow Standard Work Specifications (SWS) policy and safety standards.
Requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Experience in building construction, electricity, carpentry, heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning.
  3. Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
  4. Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  5. Ability to establish positive relationships with staff, clients, and the community.
  6. Effective communication skills in written and oral forms.
  7. Basic understanding of computers and software.
  8. Ability to work on scaffolding, roofs, extension ladders, and in tight crawl spaces.
  9. General mechanical skills.
  10. Certified in First Aid & CPR within one year of hire.
  11. Obtain Lead certification within one year of hire.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel to meetings, conferences, and training sessions. The position requires the ability to work in confined spaces, noisy environments, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
