We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Assistant to join our Weatherization Program team at Community Action Partnership of Dickinson. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the weatherization of homes, including carpentry, insulation, and diagnostic testing.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the completion of weatherization projects as per the Standard Work Specifications (SWS).
- Support the mission, goals, and values of the Community Action Partnership Weatherization Program.
- Identify and address professional and organizational issues and trends, facilitating change and participating in program restructuring.
- Maintain confidentiality and serve as a liaison between departments and agencies.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as approved by the Program Director.
- Participate in program-related committees and contribute to the growth and development of the Weatherization Program.
- Travel to meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.
- Assist in educating weatherization clients and monitoring their needs based on Weatherization Best Practices.
- Conduct general weatherization and carpentry work for eligible clients.
- Load and unload weatherization materials as needed.
- Clean and maintain warehouse and vehicles as instructed by the supervisor.
- Service equipment as directed by the supervisor.
- Responsible for tools assigned to them by the agency.
- Operate Blower Door and perform diagnostic tests as required.
- Install windows and doors without supervision.
- Follow Standard Work Specifications (SWS) policy and safety standards.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in building construction, electricity, carpentry, heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with staff, clients, and the community.
- Effective communication skills in written and oral forms.
- Basic understanding of computers and software.
- Ability to work on scaffolding, roofs, extension ladders, and in tight crawl spaces.
- General mechanical skills.
- Certified in First Aid & CPR within one year of hire.
- Obtain Lead certification within one year of hire.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel to meetings, conferences, and training sessions. The position requires the ability to work in confined spaces, noisy environments, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
