Role Overview:
The Certified Surgical Technician is responsible for preparing the surgical operating room with necessary drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies. This role ensures that all equipment and instruments are in optimal working condition.

The technician assists in preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients for surgical procedures.

During surgery, the technician passes instruments to the physician and maintains an accurate count of instruments and supplies throughout the procedure.

Additionally, the technician is responsible for receiving and processing specimens for laboratory delivery.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required
Certification as a Surgical Technician and/or completion of an accredited OR Technician program is preferred. (Certification is required for this position.)

Professional Affiliations:
Membership in the Association of Surgical Technologists, at either the national or local level, is preferred.

Essential Skills:
Certifications
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential. The role requires the ability to function effectively in a high-pressure environment and to take appropriate actions as needed.
