Critical Care Veterinary Technician Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Assistant to join our Critical Care team at Ethos Veterinary Health. Our Critical Care team provides around-the-clock specialized care and treatment to hospitalized patients requiring intensive monitoring.
About the Job
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and detail-oriented individual who can work collaboratively with veterinarians, fellow technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive and effective patient care. The successful candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming patients and provide nursing care to critically ill patients
- Record histories and SOAP notes, and demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
- Perform in-house laboratory procedures, skillfully place intravenous (IV) catheters, and conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds
- Recognize situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian, and act as an advocate for both the patient and the client
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician, or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients
