Project Controls Specialist

At Duke Energy, we're committed to making a difference in people's lives. As a Project Controls Specialist, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve this goal. Your primary responsibility will be to support Project Managers and Project Directors on projects and programs of varying size and complexity. You'll be responsible for leading the setup and reviews of project controls status, including cost, contract, WBS, schedule, resource, and changes. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of project controls principles and associated software tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under general supervision, gather, establish, and maintain cost details, integrating with other site work activities that impact or are impacted by new projects.
  • Maintain and update all cost management work for assigned projects, including updates from vendor submittals, field walk-downs, and manual updates provided by on-site representatives.
  • Work with project teams to update all field work in the integrated schedule.
  • Understand phased project funding, assist or manage the roll-up of estimates into cost reports, and manage cost systems as needed.
  • Estimate and assist in the management of monthly accruals.
  • Familiar with Maximo, P6, and high proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Maintenance of cost and budgets for all site projects.
  • Review and assist change management.
  • Generate monthly reports and project documentation.
  • Work with PM/PD for site-specific reporting.
  • Work with schedulers for impact analysis and critical path.
Requirements:
  • Principal Project Controls Specialist
  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, or Business Administration and 7 years of work-related experience or High school diploma/Equivalent and 11 years of work-related experience.
  • Experience with large civil tunneling projects and/or large hydro generation projects.
