Position Overview
The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for conducting ultrasound examinations, providing technical support to the Radiologist, and ensuring the proper maintenance of ultrasound equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and assess patients, confirming their identity and health status in line with established protocols.
- Ensure that ultrasound examinations align with the patient's clinical history and inform the supervising physician of any contraindications.
- Operate and fine-tune ultrasound machinery, adhering to safety measures to protect both patients and staff from potential hazards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the designated personnel.
- Engage with patients and their representatives, clearly explaining procedures and addressing any general inquiries.

Technical Duties
- Develop or adjust procedural plans based on the patient's health status, considering age and gender factors.
- Utilize independent judgment to modify examination techniques for optimal imaging results.
- Analyze sonographic findings to ensure comprehensive examinations that assist physicians in patient management and diagnosis.
- Perform necessary measurements and calculations in accordance with laboratory and ACR standards, minimizing patient exposure to acoustic energy without compromising quality.

Patient Care
- Notify relevant healthcare providers when immediate medical intervention is required.
- Assess the patient's physical and mental condition prior to discharge from the ultrasound department.
- Document diagnostic images and data for the interpreting physician's use and for archival purposes, providing a verbal summary of preliminary findings.

Work Environment
- Ensure that adequate supplies are available and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Assist in training and mentoring new ultrasound staff.
- May also handle phone inquiries, schedule examinations, and coordinate patient transportation.

Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or equivalent from a recognized technical institution or completion of an accredited Ultrasound/Sonography training program.
- Successful completion of a specialty examination within the designated timeframe from the start of employment.
- Completion of an accredited ultrasound/sonography program within the specified period of accepting the position.
- Successful passage of the ARDMS Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination prior to employment.
