Position Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking a dedicated and innovative Project Manager/Civil Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join our Utility Scale Energy Storage team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about advancing renewable energy initiatives. You will play a crucial role in overseeing battery projects from conception through implementation, collaborating with various cross-functional teams within the organization.
Your responsibilities will encompass utilities, renewable energy, energy storage, and capital improvement projects, ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards. You will apply your expertise in methods, materials, and techniques related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of diverse energy utility facilities and systems. Key technical areas include grading, earthwork, foundations, stormwater management, spill prevention, and on-site roadways.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple programs and projects effectively.
- Analyze complex technical and administrative methodologies, evaluate alternatives, and implement innovative solutions.
- Manage and direct the work of professionals and contractors, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in relevant codes and regulations for civil design and permitting.
- Review and provide insights on hydrology studies, geotechnical reports, civil design packages, and compliance documents.
- Develop project-specific scopes for the Engineer of Record.
- Ensure compliance with local and national codes for civil design.
- Apply sound engineering principles across a variety of assignments.
- Develop cost-effective and innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
- Collaborate effectively within and across business units.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports, both orally and in writing.
- Travel to project sites as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (Civil or Structural) is required.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in utility-level power generation or a related industrial field.
- Experience in project management and personnel supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented team player, comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong follow-up abilities.
- Able to manage multiple detail-oriented tasks with concurrent deadlines.
