Job Title: Substation Project Engineer

Job Summary:
US Tech Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Substation Project Engineer to lead a team of engineers and technical specialists in performing engineering functions for renewable generation substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substation design and engineering, with experience in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers and technical specialists in performing engineering functions for renewable generation substation projects.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate project risks, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to external engineers of record (EOR) to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure substation sites, and support any engineering updates, data, and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
  • Competitively source, select, and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, and support the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions.
  • Coordinate the engineering deliverables in support of FERC Order 1000 competitive request for proposals, as well as the design and construction of awarded projects.
  • Represent E&C's internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations/briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.
  • Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation, including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies, and interconnection agreements.
  • Manage all project long lead major material orders to minimize risk of delays or exceeding the project budget.
  • Support E&C Estimating with template update via project feedback, technical support, and scope modifications.
  • Work collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans, and lines of demarcation.
  • Ensure projects are efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department process, procedures, industry standards, and policies.
  • Support assigned project commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives.
  • Support Legal in any regulatory filings, depositions, and/or hearings.
  • Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance/adapt their designs to better integrate with philosophies.
  • Conduct external research and stay abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project.
  • Provide coaching, leadership, and direction to project teams.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years' experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is highly preferred.
  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action. PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)/ Project Management (PMP)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural engineering
