POSITION OVERVIEW: The selected candidate will be tasked with delivering comprehensive physical therapy services, which encompass evaluation, treatment strategy formulation, and therapeutic procedures within a collaborative team setting, adhering to the requisite qualifications, professional standards, and ethical guidelines. The individual will also be expected to take responsibility for and contribute to program enhancement, quality assurance, problem resolution, and productivity improvement in a dynamic team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  1. Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program recognized by the APTA (or equivalent international qualification), along with a valid and current license/certification to practice.
  2. Experience working with adult and elderly populations is essential.
  3. Experience in outpatient services and with pediatric/adolescent demographics is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in scheduled program inservice sessions.

Engage in external professional development activities as scheduled and relay pertinent information to the team.

Assist the program director in identifying the educational needs of the team and implement relevant inservice sessions.

Adjust personal schedules to accommodate program needs when necessary.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Communicate professionally with various stakeholders, as evidenced by client satisfaction.

Familiarize oneself with and adhere to the relevant professional codes, company policies, program protocols, and hospital regulations.

Participate in community educational and promotional activities as requested.

Contribute positively to interdepartmental relationships and teamwork.

Ensure that all applicable licenses/certifications and memberships are current.

Complete patient assessments and document findings in the medical record as per policy and procedure. Ensure data is recorded in the appropriate sections.

Establish functional short and long-term goals that are objective and measurable.

a. Document time frames for goal achievement.

b. Select interventions based on assessment results that are suitable for the patient's age, as demonstrated by goal achievement.

c. Consult with physicians regarding referrals for additional services as necessary.

Ensure therapeutic interventions yield positive outcomes, as evaluated by quality improvement assessments and patient satisfaction surveys.

Exhibit safety, competence, and proficiency in all departmental modalities and equipment operations.

Utilize positive reinforcement to encourage patient engagement in their rehabilitation journey.

Provide structured and goal-oriented educational/training activities tailored to individual needs.

Collaborate with staff members to coordinate therapeutic activities and interventions as required.

Evaluate patient responses to treatment plans, as evidenced by goal achievement and/or necessary revisions, and update treatment plans accordingly, as outlined in policy.

Provide patients and families with information regarding current status, program planning, and completion throughout the rehabilitation process.

Document the progression of patient care, including advancements made and ongoing treatment needs.
  1. a. Daily document interventions and their effects according to policy and procedure.
  2. b. Complete interim progress notes as per policy and procedure.
  3. c. Finalize discharge summaries in accordance with policy and procedure.
Educate patients and families on tasks and resources that will support continued functional independence.

Serve as a resource for team members by providing inservice and cross-training on physical therapy knowledge and skills.

a. Attend inservice sessions.

b. Lead inservice sessions as requested or volunteered.

c. Orient other staff to the physical therapy functions within the rehabilitation department.

Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and solutions in problem-solving situations regarding the program.

Assist in the development of enhanced efficiency and productivity in clinical and administrative functions of the program.
  1. a. Participate in planning and evaluation sessions with other rehabilitation staff focused on program development, organization, communication, and growth.
  2. b. Provide constructive suggestions to improve service delivery and program operations.
  3. c. Collaborate in the implementation of system improvements.
  4. d. Offer assistance to other staff and demonstrate flexibility in fulfilling shared team responsibilities, including special projects.
Exhibit and promote a professional image and attitude towards patients, families, clients, coworkers, and others.
