Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Estimator to lead our estimating team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of HVAC and Plumbing trades and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement estimating business plans and activities.
  • Organize and manage the execution of the cost estimate deliverable process from initial client meeting through to final client acceptance.
  • Assign and manage project staffing levels and workforce plans.
  • Price scopes of work utilizing man-hours and crews and production.
  • Manage the development of estimates from inception to completion, including developing an achievable estimate plan, inclusive of budget, preliminary schedule, and leading the estimating team in executing the estimate.
  • Collaborate with project managers and proposal managers to develop proposal strategies.
  • Participate in discussions with vendors and pricing discussions with senior leadership.
  • Identify risks and participate in mitigation planning.
  • Review and recommend approval of major estimates.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of estimates produced by the team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the various New York contracting Agencies.
  • At least 10 years of experience in estimating, planning, or cost engineering on engineering, procurement, and construction HVAC and Plumbing projects.
  • Previous field experience on large-scale ($250M+) mechanical projects.
  • Expertise to ensure estimate quality and integrity.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with bid evaluations of cost and schedule criteria.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction functions customarily acquired through extensive experience in the Mechanical Construction industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using standard software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and PowerBI to analyze and present estimating and project performance data.
  • Knowledge of Timberline, Navisworks, Revit, and Trimble.
