Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Full-Time Construction Staff Accountant to be part of our Boulder office. This role will encompass a variety of monthly accounting tasks and related activities, including general bookkeeping, managing accounts payable, conducting bank reconciliations, processing construction loan draws, job cost accounting, and maintaining organized financial records, among other essential accounting functions. The position will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and will have a direct communication line with the President of the Company. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to gain practical experience in financial processes relevant to multifamily construction, development, and property management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and bookkeeping tasks, including managing accounts payable and receivable, billing, and journal entries.
  • Compiling information for monthly construction loan draws, including client billing packages in line with contract stipulations.
  • Preparing bank deposits, performing monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations, and managing cash receipts.
  • Ensuring the collection of necessary vendor and subcontractor documentation, such as invoices, insurance, bonding, and lien waivers.
  • Interpreting documentation from trade partners related to accounting matters.
  • Providing project teams with ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
  • Maintaining an organized internal filing system.
  • Completing all financial transactions promptly and accurately.
  • Building relationships with accounting counterparts in client and subcontractor offices.
  • Executing additional accounting and construction-related tasks as needed.

Additional Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to commute to the office or plans to relocate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new software and systems, including Yardi, Procore, and QuickBooks.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree is mandatory.
  • A degree in accounting or construction is advantageous.
  • A minimum of one year of professional accounting experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
