We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Scientist to join our team at Waystar. As a key member of our Data Science team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge Machine Learning Models that will augment our product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and architect ML/AI Solutions across client teams and with the Data Science team
Develop and promote ML standards across the product portfolio
Evaluate and select appropriate AI tools and machine learning models for tasks, as well as build and train working versions of those models using Python and other open-source technologies
Work with leadership and stakeholders to identify AI opportunities and promote strategy
Develop and conduct trainings for users across the landscape on principles used to develop models and how to interact with models to facilitate their business processes
Build and prioritize backlog for future machine-learning enabled features to support client business processes
Requirements
Master degree in Statistics, Data Science, and/or other STEM related field or Bachelor degree in a similar field with significant professional experience
Proven experience to translate insights into business recommendations
8+ years of professional experience
4+ years of experience programming in languages such as Perl, Python, R, PHP, and shell scripts
Exposure to LLM, LLM Embedding Vectors, and general GenAI interactions
In-depth understanding of ML/AI protocols and standards
2+ years working with Automated Cloud-based MLOps, preferably GCP and/or Snowflake
Understanding of technology risks and the ability to assess and mitigate them
Experience with debugging and troubleshooting software or solutions design issues
Proven ability to stay current with best practices and new technology solutions in the field
Ability to display both breadth and depth of knowledge regarding functional and technical issues
Experience presenting to clients or other decision makers to present and sell ideas to various audiences (technical and non-technical)
