Occupational Medicine Specialist

About the Role:
Medicine for Business and Industry (MBI) is seeking an Occupational Medicine Physician to join our team in a PRN capacity. As an Occupational Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in an outpatient clinic setting, specializing in acute injury care within an Occupational Medicine setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide healthcare to patients in clinic and via tele-medicine according to established principles of clinical practice and the current organizational plan or need.
- Support and assist Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at the Physician's clinic location, including supervising or rendering care for patients as needed.
- Perform complete history and physical exams, including vision, hearing, and electrocardiograms, to determine capacity to safely perform specified job functions.
- Provide medical opinion regarding job accommodations to safely perform specified job functions.
- Review and interpret radiographs of the chest to determine the presence of a pre-existing pulmonary condition prior to beginning work.
- Participate in the legal process of workers' compensation, including SAMM's calls, depositions, and testifying in hearings when requested.
- Perform Fit for Duty evaluations.
- Evaluate and manage common occupational musculoskeletal injuries, work-related head injuries, and other work-related conditions.
- Render medically appropriate care while being aware of OSHA recordability.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and therapy, order radiographs, and refer for specialized testing or specialty care as necessary.
- Identify limitations to activity at home and work and render an opinion regarding causality and work-relatedness.
- Communicate with employers regarding treatment plans and work capacity.
Requirements:
- MD/DO degree
- Occupational Medicine experience preferred, but willingness to train otherwise qualified candidates with experience in UC, FP, IM, ER, Sports Medicine, or Ortho
- FMCSA certification for DOT exams preferred, required within 60 days of hire (certification expenses covered by MBI)
- Current state licensure in good standing (or in process)
- Current DEA licensure
- Level I/II accreditation preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in computer use and Electronic Medical Records systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Maintain confidentiality
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
