Job Title: Veterinary Assistant I - Equine Sports Medicine

Colorado State University is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to support our team of specialists in the Equine Sports Medicine Unit at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

This dynamic role involves assisting in the care and rehabilitation of top-tier equine competitors, contributing to their peak performance and recovery.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will work closely with our team of board-certified specialists, residents, technicians, and students to provide exceptional veterinary care and service to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage, assess, monitor, treat, evaluate, and coordinate care of injured equines under the guidance of higher-level Veterinary Technicians and Clinicians.
  • Provide didactic instruction to professional veterinary medical students, interns, residents, technicians, graduate veterinarians, and others in specialty areas.
  • Frequently travel to client sites to provide clinical services.

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED plus one (1) year of experience caring for animals or providing animal handling duties.
  • Excellent horse-handling skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree or graduation from an Equine Veterinary Technology program.
  • Previous veterinary technician and/or radiology technician experience.
  • Experience in equine rehabilitation treatments.
