Job Title: Utility Field Engineer

As a key member of the Dragados team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, and project data to ensure quality and contract compliance.
  • Work with the project team to plan field layouts, ensuring utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins.
  • Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as required.
  • Meet daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm materials, equipment, and resources are available.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying potential risks that could impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance.
  • Document daily activities using Company-approved methods and technologies.
  • Notify team members and management of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and control using assigned project cost coding to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at regular intervals.
  • Initiate and manage certificates, inspections, and documentation regarding construction production.
  • Review and approve daily timecards for construction crews, working with HR, Payroll, and job supervisors to resolve queries.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of construction engineering experience on heavy civil construction projects, preferably in utilities.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawing, specifications, building materials, and required standards.
  • Previous experience in cost coding, cost savings, budget, and project-related financial implications.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling processes and production time management.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Proven self-starter and self-motivated to learn and grow knowledge.
