JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Aviation Weather Specialist serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within a specialized operational team, utilizing extensive knowledge and various meteorological tools to deliver insightful guidance and recommendations to clients.
Key competencies include the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, exceptional communication skills, and a solid understanding of Crew Resource Management principles, all of which are essential for optimal performance.
The specialist is expected to enhance their foundational and operational knowledge through continuous self-education and will have the opportunity to apply this expertise in addressing both urgent and long-term challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering mission-specific planning and execution forecasts to enhance operational capabilities and effectiveness.
- Continuously assessing weather conditions and collaborating with mission planners to circumvent adverse weather.
- Maintaining and expanding SME-level expertise in predicting and analyzing global weather phenomena, providing mission-focused forecasts and reports to crew members and senior officials.
- Conducting post-mission evaluations and offering recommendations to senior government personnel.
Note: A TOP SECRET / SCI clearance is mandatory, with a polygraph preferred. This role involves regular shift work with a variable schedule.
No overseas assignments are required, and shift differential pay may apply under certain conditions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 12 years of experience as a qualified weather forecaster in ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) operations, particularly within CENTCOM AOR, is essential.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, along with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
A flawless record in handling classified materials in controlled environments is crucial, along with experience supporting collection platforms.
Familiarity with PFPS/Falconview is necessary, and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is preferred; additional years of experience may substitute for formal education.
A demonstrated technical understanding of government communication networks and computer systems is also required.
SALARY RANGE:
$125,000 - $165,000
PAY RANGE:
This pay range serves as a general guideline and does not guarantee compensation. Factors influencing the offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
