Responsibilities- Provide Expert Advice: Offer guidance and consultation on prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and dietary supplements to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Interpret and Evaluate Orders: Carefully review physicians' orders to provide appropriate drug therapy for patients, taking into account their medical history, allergies, and other relevant factors.
- Ensure Safe Distribution: Ensure the safe, accurate, and timely distribution of medications to patients in accordance with laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
- Monitor Drug Therapy: Regularly monitor drug therapy regimens for contradictions, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
- Provide Patient Counseling: Offer clear, concise patient counseling and education on medications, including the purpose of the medication, how to administer it, potential side effects, and how to store it.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and improve outcomes.
- Develop and Deliver Education Programs: Participate in the development and delivery of in-service education programs for healthcare providers.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all medication dispensed, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree: Hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience and License: Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting, and hold a current and valid pharmacist license in good standing.
- Technical Skills: Be proficient in the use of inpatient script RX or similar pharmacy management systems.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to explain complex medical information to patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Teamwork and Analytical Skills: Show a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge and Commitment: Possess comprehensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals, therapeutic indications, toxicology, and pharmacy law and ethics, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and learning to stay current with the latest advancements in pharmacy practice.
