Job Summary:

The Police Liaison is a critical member of our team at Health Care and Rehabilitation Services, working closely with law enforcement agencies to provide support and resources to individuals in crisis. As a Police Liaison, you will be embedded in local police departments, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, and providing assistance to law enforcement officers and individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide immediate support and resource connection to individuals in crisis
• Work closely with law enforcement officers to ensure individuals receive proper care and support
• Assist individuals with various challenges, including financial, medical, legal, transportation, food, and employment needs
• Connect individuals with community agencies and care providers
• Provide emergency support to community members in crisis or experiencing trauma

Requirements:

• Associate's degree plus one to two years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of family systems, mental illness, developmental disabilities, behavior management, substance use, and confidentiality procedures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen effectively
• Respect and a caring attitude towards all individuals
• Valid driver's license and reliable car required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with professional experience in human services
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of law enforcement culture

Working Conditions:

• Work in a variety of settings, including police departments, business offices, individuals' homes, homeless shelters, community agencies, and hospitals
• May be required to transport individuals receiving services
• May encounter unpleasant odors and other disagreeable factors in work environments
