Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Inspector to join our team at Summit Fire & Security. As a Fire Protection Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to SFS and customers, providing detailed documentation and recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, as well as offsite monitoring companies, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Operate specialized tools and equipment, such as heat and smoke detector kits, backflow kits, and pump equipment, to complete inspections and testing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete inspections as scheduled, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Participate in on-call status as required by location to handle emergency service and inspection requests.
  • Ensure company-provided vehicles are clean and well-maintained, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow SFS's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures, participating in weekly Toolbox talks and ensuring all related safety documentation is readily available.
  • Attend seminars and training sessions to stay up-to-date with changing technology, installation, and testing approaches.
  • Train inspector trainees in all applicable aspects of fire protection, sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure a high level of competence within the team.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; NICET and/or state certification preferred based on location.
  • 3-5 years' experience inspecting fire protection systems required; 5+ years' experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills, customer service skills, and decision-making skills.
  • Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, and ability to multitask, meet project schedules, and plan and organize.
  • Ability to operate a computer, tablet, and read electronic blueprints, with experience with SalesForce and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Compliance with SFS's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, as well as customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreements.
