Job Summary

The Electrical Commissioning Supervisor is a key role within GATE Energy, responsible for overseeing the commissioning of electrical systems and devices on our projects. This position requires strong leadership and technical skills to ensure that all commissioning activities are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct electrical commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with project safety targets and deadlines.
  • Direct and mentor electrical technicians to undertake commissioning activities, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, and general arrangement drawings to inform commissioning activities.
  • Conduct electrical commissioning checks on low and medium voltage switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, and lighting systems.
  • Complete documentation required to document completion of commissioning activities, including Inspection Test Records and System Commissioning Procedures.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Generate punch lists or non-conformance reports as required, and advise management on whether continued operation of equipment is hazardous.
  • Test and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and components using test equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Adhere to GATE Energy's standards and client requirements for Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) compliance.
  • Maintain current licenses, certifications, or identification cards to meet governmental regulations and project/client requirements.
  • Follow and maintain GATE Energy's Quality System requirements, including GATE and client standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in oil and gas commissioning.
  • Technical qualification or technical institute background preferred.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements and restrictions.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas facilities and associated control and safety systems.
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently work as part of a team under direction from field supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Proven ability to promote client relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within the US, offshore, and internationally.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, ramps, and access and utilize scaffolding.
  • Ability to carry tools bag (up to 50 lbs), bend body downward and forward, kneel, climb, and walk.
  • Work extended shift hours, e.g., 12+ hours/day or as dictated by project requirements.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and/or physical.
